- Try your best to keep stress levels low. It’s easier said than done but being in a state of stress increases cortisol levels and can prevent a good recovery.
- Breathing exercises aimed at having a slow and steady breath can improve mood and lower stress.
- Get enough rest and give yourself time to recover.
- Do not exercise too hard. Stretching, walking or light movement is good but try not to over do it by increasing exercise beyond what feels comfortable.
- Get enough quality sleep. Avoid late night TV & phone use as this can make it harder for the brain to ‘switch off’. Also, try not to eat too close to the time you go to bed.
- Eat well. Try to eat as healthily as possible by reducing processed food and junk food snacking, whilst increasing your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables.
- Make sure your GP is aware of your health and take all prescribed medicines on time.
